U.S. Senate
Deputy Senate Archivist
Washington D.C.
I have been in the Senate Historical Office for almost ten years working on electronic records and digital preservation issues. Prior to that I spent six years as Research and Reference Librarian and Archivist, and Curator of Special Collections at the University of Virginia Law Library. I am interested in the description of electronic records, particularly in ways that description can support future access and use. Professionally I focus quite a bit on email and social media archiving and I anticipate that finding archival solutions for text messaging and mobile device apps will be my newest predicament. Personally I would like to gain experience with web archiving, film and media archiving, big data issues, and I'd love to become a competent coder! I received my DAS certification in 2015 and I am very interested in SAA's Arrangement and Description professional certification.
