Attendance: Maximum of 30 people for reboxing project. If additional people sign up, an additional box list project will be added.
Project details: The DC Archives has many boxes that are damaged or otherwise in poor condition and need to be replaced. Volunteers will work in the stacks in teams of 2 to identify boxes that need replacing, assemble the replacement boxes, move the contents to the new boxes, and label the new boxes accurately.
Travel: Participants meet at the front desk of the Wardman Park Marriott at 8:30am and will take the metro together from Woodley Park to Mt. Vernon Square, with a one-block walk to Naylor Court where the Archives is located. This will involve changing from the Red to the Green line at Gallery Place.
Accessibility: The DC Office of Public Records building can be accessed using a wheelchair, but the bathrooms are not ADA compliant. Participants should be aware that there is the risk of mold exposure. Masks can be provided if necessary.
Food: Naylor Court is near several food options, including Sundevich, a sandwich shop, CherCher, an Ethiopian restaurant, and a Subway sandwich shop.
