With the museum’s Washingtonian Collection as a centerpiece, the Albert H. Small Center for National Capital Area Studies engages students, scholars, and the public in research and educational programs pertaining to our nation’s capital.

The library incorporates into its catalog citations from textile-related journals and periodicals, a service unique to The Textile Museum.
As a leading resource for the study of textiles, the library's multilingual collection offers researchers access to artistic, cultural, historical, and technical information related to the textile arts. The library's collection also includes monographs, serials, ephemera, auction catalogs, slides, and videotapes.
