Melissa Wertheimer is a Music Reference Specialist at the Library of Congress where her responsibilities include special collections librarianship, web archives curation, instruction, outreach, and acquisitions. Melissa's professional service includes Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of the Society of American Archivists Web Archiving Section, MARAC Mentor for New Professionals, and Archivist of the Music Library Association. Forthcoming book contributions include "Appraisal for Web Archives" in The Handbook of Archival Practice and "Music Specialists in Archives, Special Collections, and Museums" in Careers in Music Librarianship (4th edition). Prior to the Library of Congress, Melissa worked for the archives of the Peabody Institute, Walters Art Museum, Baltimore Museum of Art, and Special Collections in Performing Arts at the University of Maryland. Melissa holds an MLIS in Archives and Digital Curation from the University of Maryland, MM in Piccolo from the Peabody Institute, and BM in Flute from Ithaca College.
